Community Mental Health Program
Program Description
The Alpha Court Community Mental Health Program is a voluntary rehabilitation service provided at no charge to help people with serious mental illnesses to maximize their functioning in the community.
Services offered by the program include:
- Assessment
- Supportive counselling
- Individualized planning
- Direct service provision (i.e. life skills teaching, budgeting assistance)
- Supported housing
- Coordination of services and support
- Advocacy
- Youth worker services
- Educational/vocational support
- Outreach
Admissions Criteria
- Primary diagnosis is a serious mental illness, defined according to diagnosis, duration and disability
- 16 years of age and over
- A resident of Thunder Bay
- A need for assistance, support and skills teaching in order to live successfully in the community
Exclusion may be deemed necessary due to one or a combination of the following:
- Primary diagnosis is one of substance abuse or developmental challenge
- Organic brain syndrome
- Involved in similar program
- Unwilling to participate
- Repetitive history of violent or abusive behaviour
